HOW TO IMPROVE DIZZINESS WITH VESTIBULAR THERAPY FOR ACOUSTIC NEUROMA
Many studies point to the effectiveness of vestibular rehab therapy, VRT, in treatment of vestibular unilateral hypofunction for symptom resolution and improvement of function. Because the evidence points to VRT being so effective at treating one sided inner ear weakenss from conditions such as acute neuritis, one could assume the same would be true for hypofunction related to post surgical resection of acoustic neuroma.

COGNITIVE REST IN CONCUSSION
After a concussion there is an energy crisis of the brain, basically meaning there is not the right balance of “fuel” to make the brain work right. An analogy would be putting 89 octane gas in a car requiring 93 octane; thus car will not function right.

EXERTION REHAB IN CONCUSSION THERAPY
A concussion is caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. Concussions are commonly referred to as a mild traumatic brain injury, mTBI. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain.
EXERCISE OF THE WEEK: SCM THERAPY
The sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscle has been an overlooked but important source of pain in many clients I see in physical therapy. The SCM is composed of clavicular (short head) and sternal (long head) divisions, and acts to flex the head downward or rotation the neck. These muscles can develop trigger points, which are typically taut bands of muscle fibers and are “ropy” and sensitive to pressure when compressed.
EXERCISE OF THE WEEK: THE SQUAT
Why should you be performing squats? Squats are the perfect exercise to build functional strength, increase flexibility, improve your balance, and reduce fall risk. Think of all the activities you do on a daily basis that incorporate this movement; sitting in a chair, going to the restroom, getting out of the car, or getting off a low couch.

It is meant to target the small muscles that surround your spine and provide stability, but when you’re really in tune with your core you can use this exercise to serve as the foundation for better balance. Start on all 4’s, hands under shoulders, keep head down, move opposite limbs outward towards the walls as far as you can reach.
